A few weeks ago Shoreham Pottery celebrated another successful year and our 2nd birthday with a party for all who have been involved with us from the beginning.
It was a busy day, with the mulled wine and friendly faces flowing from 11am until late- and what a joy it as to see so many of our students (past and present), friends and family- all popping by to take part in the festivities. We were entertained by one of our students Tim, playing his guitar, singing carols and livening spirits whilst our visitors perused the exhibition of our student's work on display. It was fascinating and inspiring to see what a varied mix of objects our students have created and the progress made is very evident to us as tutors. We had also created some display boards to give all an overview of what happens at the pottery, from all of our classes to our outreach work and behind the scenes. The process of making these boards was a great reminder of why we started this venture in the first place - to share pottery with our community- and has encouraged us to get thinking about what might come next- We are excited. Bring on 2018!!!

This summer the Pottery has hosted 2 groups of international students from Bede's summer school. They each spent 4 sessions learning lots of pottery techniques and creating some very exciting pieces. It was a chance for them to get to know each other and learn a new skill and for us to meet some young people from some interesting places. Here are some photos of them in action!
This Saturday Shoreham Pottery opened it's doors to a group of Mermaids for the lovely Claire's Hen party. The group split in 2 and took turns enjoying a Mermaid making and pot throwing session in our little workshop. The outfits were highly creative and hilarious, as were the mermaid creations - see for yourself below! Thank you Claire and the gang, it was great fun. |
